Cumulative Interest Calculator

This calculator answers the CUMIPMT question: of the payments you make between month 40 and month 60, how much of that money is interest. Enter the loan amount, the rate and the term, then either a first and last payment number or a single year of the schedule, and it returns the interest, the principal repaid, the balance at each end of the window and what share of the loan's whole interest bill that stretch represents. The balances come from the closed form of an amortising loan, so a thirty year schedule is as exact as a one year one. The level payment is used unrounded, the same convention a spreadsheet follows, so a lender's statement can differ by a few cents.

Calculator Type

Pick the first and last payment of the stretch you care about and this returns the interest and principal inside it.

The balance the schedule starts from, after any down payment.
The nominal rate on the note, not the APR with fees rolled in.
Payment 1 is the first one you make, a month after the loan is drawn.
Inclusive: entering 1 and 12 counts twelve payments.
