Depreciation Calculator

This works out book depreciation on an asset by any of the four standard methods, which are straight line, declining balance, double declining balance and sum of the years digits. Enter the cost, the salvage value and the useful life, pick a method, and you get the first year charge, the totals and a table showing the opening book value, the charge and the closing book value for every year. A declining balance schedule never writes the asset below its salvage value, and the last year of a straight line or sum of the years schedule absorbs the rounding so the book value ends exactly on the salvage figure. Every year is treated as a full year, so the half-year convention and the MACRS tables used on a US tax return are not applied here.

What the asset cost to buy and put into service.
What you expect it to be worth at the end of its useful life. Zero is a common assumption.
Only used by the declining balance method. 1.5 is the 150 percent rate; double declining always uses 2 whatever is entered here.
