Interest Calculator
Interest is quoted either as simple interest on the original principal or as compound interest on a balance that keeps growing. Enter a principal, an annual rate and a term, and the first tab returns the interest earned and the closing balance. The compound tab adds a compounding frequency and reports the effective annual rate, which is what makes two differently quoted rates comparable. Both assume the rate holds for the whole term, and neither takes tax on the interest into account.
