Kinetic Energy Calculator

Kinetic energy is the energy a mass carries because it is moving, and this tool applies KE = 0.5 x m x v^2 in whichever direction you need it. Enter a mass and a velocity to get the energy in joules, kilojoules, foot-pounds, calories and watt-hours, or give the energy with one of the other two and it returns the one that is missing. Mass takes kilograms, grams, tonnes, pounds, ounces or stone, and velocity takes metres per second, kilometres per hour, miles per hour, feet per second or knots. The relation is classical, so it ignores drag, rotation and the relativistic correction that starts to matter above roughly a tenth of the speed of light.
