PPM Calculator

This tool moves a concentration between parts per million, parts per billion, parts per trillion, percent by mass, milligrams and grams per litre, milligrams per kilogram and grains per US gallon. Enter a figure in whatever unit you have it in, or build one from a mass of solute in a known amount of solution, and a third action crosses between ppm and molarity using the molar mass. Parts per million is a mass ratio, so every mass-per-volume row depends on the density of the solution; the box defaults to 1.000 g/mL, water near room temperature, which is the only density at which 1 mg/L equals 1 ppm. Change it for brines, syrups and organic solvents, where treating the two as interchangeable is simply wrong.

Enter the figure in whatever unit you have it in.

Leave at 1 for water. Only the mass-per-volume answers depend on it.

Crossing between a mass ratio and a molar concentration needs the molar mass.

In ppm, or in mol/L, whichever direction you picked.
