Flight Time Calculator

This works out how long a flight takes between two points on the earth. Enter the latitude and longitude of each end in decimal degrees, a cruising speed in knots, miles per hour or kilometres per hour, and a flat allowance for taxi, climb and descent, and it returns the great circle distance in miles, kilometres and nautical miles, the time in the air, the block time and the initial heading. There is no airport database behind it, so the coordinates are yours to supply and nothing is guessed from a three letter code. The distance is a haversine great circle on a sphere, and a real flight follows airways, dodges weather and fights or rides the wind, so treat the answer as the shortest possible case rather than a schedule.

Speed Unit
Decimal degrees. South of the equator is negative.
Decimal degrees. West of Greenwich is negative.

True airspeed at cruise. A narrowbody jet sits near 450 to 480 knots, a turboprop near 280, a light single near 120. Left blank you get 460 knots.
A flat allowance you choose, not a modelled figure. Set it to zero to see the cruise time on its own.
