Recipe Converter

Scales a recipe up or down and rewrites every amount as a fraction you can actually measure. Enter the servings the recipe makes, the servings you want and the ingredient lines as written, and each line comes back scaled, with cups and spoons broken down into whole tablespoons and teaspoons where the fraction is an awkward one. A second mode converts a recipe between pan sizes by comparing the floor area of the two pans. There is no ingredient data behind it, so it never turns cups into grams, and oven temperature and baking time do not scale the way the ingredients do.

Enter what the recipe says it makes, what you want it to make, and the ingredient lines as written.

One line each, starting with the amount. Whole numbers, decimals and fractions all work: 2 cups flour, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 375 g bread flour, 3 eggs.

Pan Sizes In
Tins are sold in inches in North America and in whole centimetres almost everywhere else, so enter whichever the pan is marked in. Both pans are read in the unit chosen here.

Compares the floor area of the two pans and gives the factor to multiply every ingredient by.

Leave at zero for a round pan, or for a square one where the width matches the length.
