Year Over Year Growth Calculator

Paste a series of yearly figures, oldest first, and this calculator returns the percentage change from each year to the next. It also gives the total growth across the whole run, the compound annual growth rate, and the plain average of the yearly rates, which is a different and always larger number. A second mode works the other way and says what annual rate a figure has to grow at to reach a target in a given number of years. It handles revenue, users, headcount or anything else counted once a year, and a year that starts from zero or from a negative figure is reported as undefined rather than given a meaningless percentage.

Calculator Type

Paste the yearly figures in order, oldest first. Each year is compared with the one before it, and the whole run is summed up by the compound annual rate.

Separate them with commas or spaces. Two to thirty figures. Revenue, users, headcount, anything counted once a year.
Only used to label the rows. Leave it at zero to have them numbered Period 1, Period 2 and so on.

The same compound rate worked backwards: what a figure has to grow by each year to reach a number you have in mind.
