Percentage Difference Calculator

Percentage difference measures the gap between two values against the mean of the two, so swapping them does not change the answer. That makes it the right measure when neither value is a baseline: two lab readings, two quotes, two sensors. Enter both values and you get the percentage difference, the absolute difference and the mean, alongside the percentage change in each direction, because 40 and 60 differ by 40 percent and also by plus 50 or minus 33.3 percent depending on which question was asked. A second action gives percent error, where an accepted value is the base rather than the mean.

Calculator Type

For two values where neither one is the baseline. The difference is measured against their mean, so the order you enter them in does not matter.
