Bazi Calculator

A BaZi chart is four stem-and-branch pairs, and this works each of them out rather than looking them up. Enter the birth date, clock time and time zone, with the longitude if you want a true solar time correction, and it returns the year, month, day and hour pillars with their elements, the day master, and a count of the five elements across the eight characters. The year turns at Lichun in early February and the months are solar, so both follow from the sun's ecliptic longitude rather than from Chinese New Year, while the day pillar is a continuous sixty day count anchored on dates you can check. You also choose whether the day changes at midnight or at 23:00, because schools genuinely disagree and it moves the answer for a late evening birth. What the pillars are held to mean is tradition, and none of that is here.

Calculator Type

The BaZi year turns at Lichun in early February, not at Chinese New Year, and the months are solar. Both follow from where the sun is, so the birth date, time and time zone are what this needs.

Negative west of Greenwich. China is 8. Include daylight saving if it was in force.
Used only when true solar time is chosen. Inside a wide time zone the correction runs past an hour and can move the hour pillar.
Schools genuinely disagree about this, and it only matters for a birth between 23:00 and midnight.

The sexagenary day on its own, with no birth time needed. The day count runs unbroken and independently of months and years, so this is a straight lookup into that cycle.
