Army Body Composition Calculator (WHtR)

The Army stopped assessing body fat percentage on 7 July 2026, when Army Directive 2026-13 made waist-to-height ratio the sole standard of the Army Body Composition Program and rescinded the tape test, the height and weight screening tables and every supplemental body fat method. Enter your waist at the navel and your height in the same units and this returns the ratio, the waist that sits on the 0.55 line at your height, and how far above or below it you are. A ratio under 0.55 meets the standard, with no adjustment for age or sex; 0.55 or higher brings a confirmation measurement by a second team the same duty day. The measurement that counts is taken by a trained grader with the tape horizontal at the navel, so treat this as a practice check rather than a result. If you want a body fat percentage estimate from neck and waist measurements, the Navy-method body fat calculator on this site still does that.

Calculator Type

Waist at the navel divided by height. Both measurements must be in the same units; the ratio itself has none.
