Enter bust, waist and hip and this tool sorts the three measurements into one of six named shapes: hourglass, bottom hourglass, top hourglass, triangle, inverted triangle or rectangle. The bands come from the FFIT for Apparel rule set developed at North Carolina State University, using only the six shapes those three measurements can separate on their own. Every threshold and every gap between your own measurements is printed next to the answer, so you can see which rule matched and by how much. Inches or centimetres both work, and the comparison is made in inches because that is how the rules are written. This is a garment fitting convention used for choosing cuts and it carries no health meaning.
