LDL Cholesterol Calculator

This calculator estimates LDL cholesterol from a fasting lipid panel using the Friedewald equation, which is total cholesterol minus HDL minus triglycerides divided by five. Enter your total cholesterol, HDL and triglycerides in either mg/dL or mmol/L and it returns the estimated LDL, your non-HDL cholesterol and the total to HDL ratio. Friedewald stops being valid once triglycerides reach 400 mg/dL, roughly 4.5 mmol/L, and it already reads low above about 200 mg/dL, so a laboratory has to measure LDL directly in those cases. The figure it gives is an estimate and does not replace a clinician reading your whole panel alongside your history.
