Miscarriage Probability Calculator

This page looks up one figure from one published study: Tong and colleagues followed 697 women in Australia who each had a single pregnancy, no symptoms of miscarriage, and a heartbeat seen on ultrasound at a first antenatal visit, and reported how many later miscarried at each week of gestation (Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2008). Choose the completed week at which a heartbeat was seen and it returns what happened to that group, given both as a percentage and as a count out of a thousand. That is a record of what happened to several hundred people in the past, not a prediction about you, and it knows nothing about your age, your history, what your scan showed or your symptoms, all of which matter a great deal. Your midwife, GP or obstetrician is the person who can say anything about your pregnancy.

This looks up one figure from one published cohort. It is not a prediction, and it applies only once a heartbeat has been seen, because that is who the study followed.

The study covered 6 to 10 completed weeks. There is no figure here outside that range.
