Air Density Calculator

This page gives the density of air from its temperature, the absolute pressure where it is, and its humidity as either a relative humidity or a dew point. It treats the dry air and the water vapour as separate gases with their own partial pressures and gas constants, adds the two densities, and shows what the same air would weigh if it were dry, which is how it makes clear that humid air is the lighter of the two. You also get the specific volume, the humidity ratio, the density ratio against sea level standard and the density altitude. A second action takes an altitude instead of a barometer reading and uses the standard atmosphere for the pressure.

Pressure Unit

Enter the absolute pressure measured where the air is, not a sea level pressure from a forecast and not an altimeter setting. Humidity can be given as relative humidity, as a dew point, or left out.

A barometer reading at the spot. A weather report or an altimeter setting has already been corrected to sea level and is the wrong number here.
A percentage for relative humidity, or a temperature for a dew point. Ignored when the air is treated as dry.

Altitude Unit

For when there is no barometer to hand. The standard atmosphere supplies the pressure at that altitude; you can offset the temperature from standard and add humidity on top.

Leave at 0 for standard conditions. Enter 10 for a day 10 C warmer than standard at that altitude, -5 for one 5 C colder.
The standard atmosphere is dry. Leave at 0 to keep it that way.
