Percent Yield Calculator

Percent yield is the mass you actually recovered divided by the mass the balanced equation allows, times a hundred. This tool does that division, and it also works out the theoretical yield you need for it: give it the limiting reagent, the molar masses and the coefficients and it returns the moles at each step. A third action takes two reagents and tells you which one runs out first, how much of the other is left unreacted, and the yield the limiting one allows. Nothing here knows about side reactions, so a real yield will sit below the theoretical one.

Percent yield is a ratio, so the unit cancels. It only has to be the same for both.

Masses Are In
The molar mass calculator will give you this from a formula.
For N2 + 3 H2 -> 2 NH3, nitrogen has a coefficient of 1 and ammonia 2.
Leave at zero if you only want the theoretical yield.
