Dimensional Weight Calculator
Carriers bill a parcel on whichever is larger, the weight on the scale or a dimensional weight worked out from its size. Enter the packed box, its real weight and a carrier divisor, and you get the dimensional weight, the billable weight, the volume and the length plus girth that oversize surcharges are written against. The published divisors are here, 139 and 166 cubic inches per pound and 5000 and 6000 cubic centimetres per kilogram, along with a box for the divisor in your own rate agreement. Those numbers are tariff terms rather than physics: UPS and FedEx moved US domestic parcels from 166 to 139 in 2019, so check the figure in your current contract before you quote a price.
