Utility Bill Calculator

A utility bill is a fixed charge plus a per-unit charge that usually steps up through blocks, and the two behave completely differently when you try to cut it. Enter your usage, the block sizes and rates off the bill, the fixed charge and any tax, and this prices the bill tier by tier and reports both the average rate and the marginal rate, which is what one more unit really costs. It also reprices the bill at a lower usage, so a saving that crosses a tier boundary is worked out properly instead of multiplied by an average. A second action adds electricity, gas, water and flat charges into one household total and shows how much of it you would pay at zero usage.

Sewer is often billed on metered water volume too. If yours is, add the sewer rate to the water rate above.
