FIB-4 Calculator

FIB-4 is a fibrosis index built from age, AST, ALT and the platelet count, published by Sterling and colleagues in Hepatology in 2006. Enter the four values from your own report and the tool returns the index with the cut-offs from the original study and from later fatty liver disease guidance, along with the reasons the figure moves, including the way it rises with age on its own. A second mode does APRI, the AST to platelet ratio index, which needs the upper limit of normal your laboratory prints beside the AST. Values are posted rather than put in the address bar, so they do not end up in a browser history or a server log. The wide band in the middle is where the index answers nothing, and reading any of it against a patient is the work of the clinician who ordered the tests.
