Reconstitution Calculator

This handles the two halves of reconstituting a powdered vial. Give it what the vial holds and the concentration you have been told to make, and it returns how much diluent to add, allowing for the volume the dry powder itself occupies. Give it the diluent already added and an amount, and it returns the concentration, the volume that carries that amount, and how many go into the vial. Strengths can be in grams, milligrams, micrograms or units of activity, and mixing mass with activity is refused rather than guessed at. It suggests nothing: the amount is the one on the order, and the diluent, the final volume and the displacement figure all come from the product's own package insert.

Per millilitre. Mass and units of activity cannot be converted into each other, so both boxes have to be on the same side of that line.

Enter what the vial holds and the concentration you have been told to make. The powder takes up room of its own, so the diluent you add is less than the volume you finish with.

The number printed on the vial label.
From the insert. If it says "add 1.8 mL to yield 2 mL", the displacement is 0.2 mL. Leave it at 0 if the insert gives no figure.

Enter what went into the vial and the amount you have been told to give. The amount is yours to supply; this page does not suggest one.

From the insert. "Add 1.8 mL to yield 2 mL" means 0.2 mL.
Copy the figure from the order. This page does not work one out.
