Augmented Matrix Calculator

Type an augmented matrix and this reduces it to row echelon form, reports the rank of the coefficient matrix and of the augmented matrix, and gives the solution set that follows. Rectangular systems are fine: with more unknowns than pivots the answer comes back with the free variables named and the others written in terms of them, and a contradictory row is reported as no solution rather than a wrong answer. Entries may be whole numbers, decimals or fractions, and every step is done in exact fractions so the rank is never decided by rounding. It prints the final reduced form rather than the individual row operations.

Calculator Type

Type [A | b] straight in. The last number on each row is the right-hand side.

One row per line, or separate the rows with a semicolon. The last number on each row is the constant on the right of the equals sign. Whole numbers, decimals and fractions such as 3/4 are all accepted.
Widget

When you have the coefficient matrix and the constants apart, this joins them into [A | b] first.

One row per line, or semicolons between rows. Every row the same length.
One number for each row of A, in the same order.
