Dividing Decimals Calculator

Dividing by a decimal is taught as a two-part move: shift the decimal point in the divisor until it is a whole number, shift the dividend the same number of places, then long divide. This tool does exactly that and shows both parts, including the shifted division it actually carried out and each step of bringing down a digit. The division runs on digits with whole number arithmetic rather than on two doubles, so it can tell you whether the answer terminates or repeats, and it prints the repeating block and the exact value as a fraction in lowest terms. Each number may carry up to six decimal places. Where the answer repeats forever it is also rounded to the number of places you ask for.
