Fraction Exponent Calculator
This calculator raises a number or a fraction to an exponent written as a fraction, such as 8 to the power 2/3. You give the base and the top and bottom of the exponent, and it returns the radical form, the exact simplified answer, and the decimal value. The exact answer comes from factorising the base into primes, so a root that comes out whole is shown as a whole number and one that does not is left as a simplified surd like 2 sqrt(3). Negative exponents are handled as reciprocals and the result is always rationalised, with no root left in a denominator. A negative base is only accepted when the reduced root index is odd, because an even root of a negative number is not a real number.
