Concrete Steps Calculator

A poured set of steps is a stepped prism rather than a slab, so its volume depends on how the risers and treads stack up and not on one thickness. Enter the total rise from grade to the landing, the tread depth, the step width and the depth of the top platform, and this works out the riser count and height, the volume in cubic feet and cubic yards, and how many bags of mix that is. It also checks the riser and tread against the residential and commercial stair limits and against the 2R plus T rule, and draws the profile to scale. The figure assumes a solid pour, so steps cast over a compacted gravel core will take less.

Calculator Type
Measure In
Metric takes every rise, depth and thickness in millimetres and the two widths in metres, and answers in cubic metres. Every optional field falls back to the figure that is right for the system you pick here.
Inches. Left blank it takes 7.
The horizontal run of one step, front to back, in inches. Left blank it takes 11.
Inches. Leave at zero when the top riser lands straight onto an existing porch.
Inches. Left blank it takes 4.
