Shear and Moment Diagram Calculator

This tool works out the shear force and the bending moment along a single determinate beam. Choose a simply supported span or a cantilever, enter the length, a uniform load over the span, a point load and its position, and it returns the reactions, the largest shear, the largest moment and where it falls, with both values tabulated at eleven points along the beam. Both arrangements are statically determinate, so the answer does not depend on the section you end up using. Sizing that member is structural design and belongs to a licensed engineer.

Units

A support at each end. Enter a uniform load, a point load, or both, and the two are added together.

In the length unit you pick below.
Leave blank if there is no distributed load.
Leave blank if there is no point load.

Fixed at the left end, free at the right. Distances are measured from the fixed end.

In the length unit you pick below.
Leave blank if there is no distributed load.
Leave blank if there is no point load.
Put it equal to the span for a load at the free tip.
