Stock Profit Calculator

This works out what a share trade actually made, from the number of shares, the price you paid, the price you sold at and the commission charged on each side. Enter both prices with any dividends received and the days you held the position, and it returns the net profit, the cost basis, the total and annualized return, and the break-even price the shares had to reach before the round trip was worth anything. A second tab runs it backwards and gives the sell price needed for a return you name. All figures are before tax, since the rate on a gain depends on your holding period and your income rather than on anything entered here.

Enter both sides of the trade with the commissions you actually paid. The break-even price is the one worth writing down: it is what the shares have to reach before the round trip has made you anything.
