Sodium Correction Calculator

High glucose pulls water out of cells and dilutes the sodium the laboratory measures, so a corrected sodium asks what the reading would be at a normal glucose. Enter the measured sodium and the glucose in mg/dL or mmol/L and this returns both published corrections, the Katz factor of 1.6 and the Hillier factor of 2.4, with the gap between them and whether they fall on the same side of 135 mmol/L; above about 400 mg/dL they often do not. A second tab takes two sodium readings and the hours between them and reports the rate of change against the limit you work to. Correcting the number does not decide the treatment, and the rate of correction is the part that injures people.
