Steps to Calories Calculator

A step only becomes a distance once you know how long your step is, so this tool starts there. Enter the number of steps, your body weight and either a measured step length or your height, pick roughly how briskly you walked, and it returns the distance covered, the time that takes and the calories burned. The energy figure comes from the MET value for that walking speed, using the same bands as the site's calories-burned-walking-calculator, so the two pages agree for the same inputs. MET values are population averages that include what you would burn at rest over the same time, so the answer is an estimate rather than a measurement.

Use this if you know your step length. Walk a measured distance, count the steps, and divide.

One step, heel to heel, not a full stride of two steps.
Roughly how briskly the steps were walked. Faster walking costs more per minute and covers the distance in less time.
