Therapy Productivity Calculator
Timed CPT codes are billed in 15 minute units, but not by dividing by 15. Medicare's 8-minute rule converts the total timed minutes of a treatment day at fixed thresholds, so 8 to 22 minutes is one unit, 23 to 37 is two, and the least number of minutes that earns u units is 15u minus 7. Enter the timed minutes and any untimed service based codes and this returns the units to bill, the window those minutes sit in, and how far the next unit is. A second action turns units and worked hours into the productivity percentage a clinic measures, against a units per hour standard and against direct time, and a third works backwards from a target to the visits and treatment minutes the day would have to contain. The thresholds are from the Claims Processing Manual; the AMA rule of eights counts each code separately and is reported alongside, because commercial payers differ.
