Treadmill Pace Calculator
A treadmill mile is not a road mile, and this works out by how much. Enter the belt speed and the incline and it returns the pace per mile and per kilometre, the oxygen cost and METs from the ACSM metabolic equations, the flat belt speed that would cost the same, and the level ground pace outdoors that would cost the same. A flat belt has no air to push through, so 6 mph on the flat is worth a 10:27 road mile rather than a 10:00 one, and a 1 percent grade is roughly what cancels that out. A second action goes the other way and gives the belt speed to set for a target pace, whether you mean the number on the console or the effort of that pace outdoors. Body weight is never asked for, because oxygen cost per kilogram does not need it; calories do, and treadmill-calorie-calculator takes them.
