TV Mounting Height Calculator
The rule this page uses is the one installers start from: the centre of the screen sits at seated eye level, which puts the vertical viewing angle at zero. Give it the screen size, the aspect ratio and your seated eye height and it returns the centre, bottom and top edge heights above the floor, the panel's own width and height, and the seating distance range that the THX and SMPTE viewing angles suggest. A second mode handles a height you are stuck with, over a fireplace being the usual case, and measures the angle from your eye up to the screen centre against the 15 degrees THX gives as a ceiling. Measure your own eye height rather than taking the 42 inch default, because a low sofa moves everything with it.
