Evaluate Expression Calculator

Enter an expression with letters in it, such as 3x squared minus 2y plus 5, give a value for each letter, and this substitutes and evaluates. It shows how the expression was read, with every unwritten multiplication put back in, what it looks like with the values in place, and then one operation per step in the order they are done. Negative values are substituted inside brackets, because that is where most slips happen. For an expression with no letters in it, the order of operations calculator explains the ordering as well.

Put numbers in place of the letters and work the result out. Write the expression with letters in it, then the value of each letter.

Letters, digits, + - * / ^ and brackets. Each letter is its own variable, so ab means a times b, and 3x means 3 times x. There are no built-in constants and no functions such as sin or log.
One value per letter, separated by commas. With a single variable you can type the number on its own. Capital and small letters are the same variable.
Trailing zeros are trimmed, so a whole answer stays whole.
