Polynomial Graphing Calculator

This tool draws a graph. Enter the coefficients of a polynomial up to x to the fourth power, or the amplitude, frequency, phase and vertical shift of a sine or cosine wave, choose the range of x you want to see, and it plots the curve with gridlines, a table of values and the points where the curve crosses the axis. It handles those two families of function only, so it does not take a typed expression, logarithms, fractions of polynomials or anything with an asymptote. The crossings are found by sampling and narrowing a sign change, so a curve that touches the axis without passing through it is not reported.

Calculator Type

Enter the coefficients of y = ax^4 + bx^3 + cx^2 + dx + e. Leave a coefficient blank for zero.

Widget

Plots y = A sin(Bx + C) + D with x and the phase C in degrees. Swap sin for cos with the selector.
