Hex Calculator

This calculator does arithmetic on hexadecimal numbers without making you convert them first. Enter two values in base 16, choose add, subtract, multiply or divide, and it returns the answer in hex along with the same sum written out in decimal and binary so you can check it. A second mode covers the bitwise operations, AND, OR, XOR, NOT and the two shifts, at a bit width you choose, and shows the working one hex digit at a time. Division is whole-number division with a remainder, and the operands are handled as digit strings, so values of up to 32 hex digits stay exact.

Calculator Type

Two non-negative hexadecimal numbers. The answer comes back in hex, in decimal and in binary, with the same sum written out in decimal so you can check it.

Digits 0-9 and A-F. Case does not matter, and a leading 0x, spaces or underscores are ignored.

AND, OR, XOR, NOT and the two shifts, worked one hex digit at a time, on hexadecimal or decimal operands. A width matters here, because NOT and a left shift both depend on how many bits you are holding.

Choose decimal to put 255 and 15 straight in. They are converted to hex, the operation is done nibble by nibble, and the answer comes back in hex, decimal and binary.
Written in the base chosen above. Case does not matter, and a leading 0x, spaces, commas or underscores are ignored.
Written in the base chosen above. Left empty for NOT and the two shifts.
Only used by the two shift operations. A shift of 4 bits moves the value one hex digit.
