Triangular Prism Surface Area Calculator

A triangular prism is two matching triangles joined by three rectangles, so its surface area is twice the triangle plus the perimeter of that triangle multiplied by the length. Enter the three sides and the length, or two legs of a right-angled end, or one side of an equilateral end, or two sides and the angle between them. The result splits the total into the two ends and each rectangular face, adds the volume and the perpendicular height, and converts to square metres, feet and inches. A scale drawing of the net comes with it, so an obtuse end leans the way it really leans.

The general case. Give the three sides of the triangular end and the length the prism runs for.

When the triangular end has a square corner, the two short sides are enough. The hypotenuse comes out of Pythagoras.

Everything Measured In

All three sides the same. One measurement and the length is the whole of it.

Two sides of the end and the angle they make. The third side comes from the cosine rule.
