X and Y Intercept Calculator

An intercept is a point where a graph meets an axis, so the x-intercept has y equal to zero and the y-intercept has x equal to zero. Enter a line as A, B and C in standard form, as a slope and a y-intercept, or as two points it passes through, and you get both intercepts along with the slope and the equation rewritten in slope-intercept form. A fourth action takes a quadratic and returns its y-intercept, its x-intercepts from the discriminant, and the vertex. Answers stay as reduced fractions when the inputs are whole numbers, with the decimal shown beside them. Vertical and horizontal lines are handled by naming the missing intercept rather than dividing by zero.

Calculator Type

Move every x and y term to the left and the constant to the right, then read off A, B and C. Any of them may be negative.

Widget

The y-intercept is b before any arithmetic happens. The x-intercept is where the line reaches zero.

Widget

Give any two distinct points and the line through them is worked out first.

Widget

A parabola always has one y-intercept and can have two, one or no x-intercepts.
