Land Survey Cost Calculator

Pick the survey type and the terrain, enter the acreage and the rate per acre you were quoted, and this returns the field fee with the effort factors applied, plus research, corner monuments, mobilisation and plat recording as separate lines, and the minimum fee if the job prices below it. A second action does the same from a field crew rate and office hours. Every rate is yours to enter, because survey fees turn on the deed behind the parcel more than on anything visible on the ground, and a national average would be misleading. The result also prints the perimeter of a square parcel of that acreage, since boundary work follows the line and the corners rather than the area.

Parcel Size and Rate In
The rate is read per whichever one you pick. A rate per hectare is about 2.47 times a rate per acre for the same ground, so do not enter one against the other.

Use this when you have been given a rate per acre. Per-acre rates fall sharply as parcels get larger, so use a rate quoted for a parcel about the size of yours.

For a boundary survey on open ground, per acre. The factors below are applied to it.
Courthouse records, the deeds of every adjoining parcel, and any earlier survey of record. On an old metes and bounds description this line can be larger than the field work.
Getting the crew and the equipment to the site, per trip. A remote parcel usually takes more than one trip.
Iron pins or pipes set where a corner cannot be found. A found monument costs nothing to set.
Drawing the plat and getting it reviewed and recorded with the county. A survey with a recorded plat costs meaningfully more than one without, and only a recorded plat is a public record.
Most firms will not open a file below one. It is what makes a small lot cost nearly as much as a large one.
Leave at zero to use the survey type and terrain factors above. Anything entered here replaces both of them.

Use this when the quote is a crew rate. Field hours are the two or three people and the instrument on site; office hours are research, computation and drafting.

A simple residential lot on open ground is often a day; a wooded rural parcel with lost corners is several.
The whole crew and the equipment, not one person's wage.
Computation, drafting and the licensed surveyor's review and seal.
