Log Board Feet Calculator

This tool scales a log under the three rules a North American mill or log buyer still uses, and shows all three answers together. Enter the small-end diameter inside the bark and the log length, optionally a count and a price per thousand board feet, and it returns Doyle, Scribner and International 1/4-inch figures with the spread between them and how much of the solid wood each rule admits to. A second action tallies a whole load written as diameter by length by count. The rules are not variants of one formula and they disagree by half the answer on a small log, which is why the rule named in a contract matters as much as the measurement. Doyle and International are exact formula rules here, while Scribner began as a diagram and its printed tables differ from the formula by a few board feet.

Calculator Type
Every rule is scaled on the small end of the log, measured inside the bark.
Logs are normally bucked and scaled in even two-foot lengths.
Leave at 0 to skip the money. The same log is worth different amounts under different rules.

One entry per log size, separated by commas or new lines. Diameter in inches, length in feet, then how many. The count may be left off and is taken as one. Example: 14x16x4, 18x12x2, 22x16
