Roofing Cost Calculator

A roof is bigger than the ground it covers, so this estimate starts by turning the footprint into sloped area with the pitch multiplier, the square root of 144 plus the rise squared, divided by 12. Enter the footprint, the pitch, a waste allowance and your prices per square and it returns the roof area, the squares and bundles to order, and the cost split between shingles, labour and tear-off. Bundles are counted at three to a square, the usual figure for three tab and architectural shingles. Tear-off is included only when you enter a tear-off price, and decking repair, permits, dumpster fees, flashing, vents and gutters are never included.
