Tile Calculator

This calculator turns a floor or wall area into a tile count, a box count and a grout volume. Enter the room's length and width, or a square footage you already have, then the tile size, the grout joint, the tile thickness, a waste percentage and how many tiles come in a box. Each tile is treated as occupying its own size plus one joint width, so a 12 inch tile with a quarter inch joint covers a 12.25 inch cell rather than a full foot. You get the bare tile count, the count with waste, the boxes to buy, the spare tiles left over and the volume of the joints at the thickness you entered. Grout bag yields vary by brand and thinset, backer board and trim are not counted, so treat the grout figure as a volume to compare against the coverage chart on the bag.
