Heart Disease Risk Calculator

This estimates the chance of a first heart attack or stroke in the next ten years using the American Heart Association PREVENT equations, the model that replaced the 2013 Pooled Cohort Equations. Enter age, sex, total and HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure, kidney filtration rate if you know it, and whether you have diabetes, smoke, take a statin or take blood pressure medication, and it returns a percentage and the risk band the current guideline attaches to it. The number is a rate for a group of people with those measurements over ten years, not a prediction about you, and the equation covers ages 30 to 79 with no known cardiovascular disease. Nothing you enter is stored, and what to do about the result is a question for your own clinician rather than for this page.

Cholesterol Reported In
Whichever your lab report uses. United States panels are in mg/dL; the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada and Australia report mmol/L. Both boxes below are read in the unit you pick here.

The form posts rather than putting your figures in the address bar, so nothing here ends up in a link, a referrer header or a web server log. The result is a rate for a group of people with these measurements, not a prediction about any one person.

The equation was fitted separately for each and has no other option.
The equation covers 30 to 79 and nothing outside it.
The upper of the two numbers.
Kidney filtration rate, reported with most blood panels. Left blank, 90 is used, which is an ordinary adult value; a genuinely lower figure raises the estimate, so a blank here is a guess and the result says so.
