Cat Calorie Calculator

This works out a cat's daily calorie target from the resting energy requirement equation, RER = 70 x (weight in kg)^0.75, multiplied by the feline life stage factor published by AAHA and WSAVA. You enter the cat's weight, pick a life stage, and add the kcal figure printed on the tin or bag, and it returns calories per day and how much of that food they come to per meal. The factors are population averages, so a real cat can need twenty to thirty percent more or less, and a cat with a health condition needs a vet to set the amount.

Use the ideal weight rather than the current one if the cat is meant to lose or gain.
Printed on the tin or bag as kcal/can, kcal/cup or kcal/kg, usually in the small print near the feeding chart.
