Face Shape Calculator

This names the face shape a set of measurements falls into, using the categories hairdressers and eyewear shops work with. Enter the forehead, cheekbone and jawline widths, the length from hairline to chin, and whether the jaw looks rounded, square or tapered, and it returns the shape, the comparison that decided it and how close the measurements sit to the next category along. The shapes are a naming convention with soft edges, not a finding about faces, and plenty of people sit between two of them. Nothing here is scored, rated or compared against an ideal.

Units
Only used for printing the measurements back. The shape comes from the proportions, so either unit gives the same answer.
Across the widest part of the forehead, roughly halfway between the eyebrows and the hairline.
From the top of one cheekbone, just below the outer corner of the eye, straight across to the other.
From the angle of the jaw below one ear across to the other. Not around the jaw, straight across.
From the centre of the hairline straight down to the bottom of the chin.
This is the one judgement the tape cannot make, and it is what separates a square face from a round one and a heart from a diamond.
