Pool Chemical Calculator

This works out how much of each balancing chemical a pool needs from its volume and a water test. Enter the volume in gallons or litres along with the readings for pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness and cyanuric acid, and it returns the dose for each in pounds, ounces and grams, in the order they should go in. The pH dose is worked from the carbonate buffer using the alkalinity you enter, because the same pH change needs about twice the acid at 120 ppm alkalinity as it does at 60, which is why a single printed figure for a pH step is wrong almost everywhere. Add one product at a time, never mix two together, put in no more than half the figure shown, run the pump for several hours and retest before adding any more. Chlorine dosing is not here; the pool shock calculator handles it across seven products.

The alkalinity is what resists the pH change, so the dose cannot be worked out without it.
