Inverse Function Calculator

Finding an inverse is always the same three moves: write y equals the function, swap the letters, then solve for the new y. This does that for five families you give the coefficients of: a linear function ax + b, a rational one (ax + b)/(cx + d), a power a(x - h)^n + k, an exponential a times b^x + k, and a logarithm a times log base b of (x - h) + k. You get the inverse written out, each step, the domain and range or the asymptote that carries over, and a check of the inverse at a value of your choosing. It also tells you when there is no inverse, such as a flat line or a rational form where ad - bc is zero, and where an even power has to be restricted to be one to one. It cannot read a typed expression or invert a function outside those five shapes, since rearranging arbitrary algebra is beyond what it does.
