Annual Mileage Calculator

This calculator turns two dated odometer readings into an annual mileage figure, which is the number an insurer asks for and a lease is measured against. Enter the earlier reading and its date, the later reading and its date, and it returns the miles driven, the rate per day, week and month, and the full year that rate projects to. The second mode takes the miles on a lease so far and the term and allowance from the contract, then projects the total at handback and prices the excess miles at your per mile rate. A projection is only as good as the stretch it came from, so readings a few months apart beat readings a fortnight apart.

Calculator Type
Odometer Reads In

Two readings and the dates they were taken. The rate between them is projected out to a full year.

A service invoice, an inspection sheet or an insurance renewal usually carries a dated reading.
Leave it blank if the later reading is the one on the dashboard right now.

Lease Written In

How your current rate projects to the end of the lease, and the bill if it lands over the allowance.

Today's odometer minus the reading when you took the car, in the unit chosen above.
The figure on the contract. A mileage contract is usually 10,000, 12,000 or 15,000 miles a year; a metric one is usually 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 or 30,000 km.
Typically 15 to 30 cents a mile, which is about 9 to 19 cents a kilometre at 1.609344 km to the mile. It is printed on the lease agreement.
