Car Cost Calculator

A car costs far more than its monthly payment, and the largest line is usually the one that never sends a bill. Enter the price, what you expect to sell it for, your yearly mileage and the running costs, and this adds depreciation, fuel, insurance, servicing, tyres, registration and loan interest into a total for the whole period you keep it. The breakdown separates a standing cost per year from a running cost per mile, so you can see what one extra mile really costs. A second action puts two cars through the same miles and finds the mileage at which they come out level. Sales tax, dealer fees and the return your down payment would have earned elsewhere are not counted.
