Concrete Block Calculator

This counts masonry units for a concrete block wall rather than working out a volume of poured concrete. Give the wall length and height, take out any doors and windows, pick a 6, 8 or 12 inch block, and it returns the number of blocks with a waste allowance, the bags of mortar mix, and how many courses of how many blocks that comes to. A nominal block covers 8 by 16 inches of face once the joint is included, which is 1.125 blocks per square foot whatever the block width. The second mode works out the grout for filling the cores, in cubic yards and in bags. Footings, rebar, ladder reinforcement and cap blocks are not counted.

Blocks Laid per Bag of Mortar (ft)

An 80 lb bag of mortar mix lays roughly 25 to 30 blocks with a 3/8 inch joint. A 25 kg bag is smaller and lays about 19, so lower the figure if that is the bag you are buying. Your mix and your joints decide the real figure.
