This estimates a whole-house renovation rather than a single room. You give the finished area being worked on and how deep the work goes, from a cosmetic refresh through to taking the house back to the studs, then tick the systems being replaced and enter figures for the kitchen, the bathrooms and the roof. Every line comes back with the rate or count it was worked out from, followed by design and permit fees and a contingency. The rate for the general work decides most of the total and varies more by region and by the age of the house than by anything else, so replace it with a local quote as soon as you have one.

The part of the house the work touches, not the lot and not an unfinished basement you are leaving alone. 100 to 20,000 square feet, or 9.3 to 1,858 square metres.
Per square foot, or per square metre if you chose metres above. Leave at zero to use the rate for the scope above; zero means the same thing in both units. Anything you enter here replaces it.

Fifteen percent is a common figure on an older house. Once walls are open, rot, old wiring and framing that is not where anyone expected all turn up.
