Metal Roof Cost Calculator

Metal roofing is ordered as panels of a fixed net coverage width, cut to the length of the slope and priced by the linear foot, so an area in squares does not tell you what to buy. Enter the width along the eave, the horizontal run, the pitch, how many planes there are and the coverage width of the panel, and this returns the panel count, the panel length, the seam count, the part panel left over on each plane and the linear feet a per-foot price is charged against. Add a panel price, a labour rate per square foot or a trim figure and it totals them. It assumes rectangular planes, so hips, valleys and dormers all add panels it has not counted.

Measure In
Sets the roof measurements you type, the two rates you type and every length and area in the answer. The panel coverage list stays the same six catalogue panels either way, named in whichever unit you pick.

Turns the eave width, the run and the pitch into a panel count, a panel length, a seam count and a price, for panels of a stated net coverage width.

The horizontal side the panels run across, measured at the gutter line.
Flat on the plan, not up the slope. On a symmetrical gable it is half the building depth.
2 for a plain gable, 1 for a lean-to or a shed roof.
How far the panel projects beyond the eave into the gutter. Leave it empty for two inches, which is 50.8 mm.
What the supplier charges for one foot of one panel in this profile and gauge.
Installation quoted per square foot of roof. Leave at zero for a materials-only figure.
Ridge cap, eave and rake trim, clips, screws, closures and sealant. Enter what they cost you; none of it is estimated for you.
